Ms. Helly Panchal

Associate · B.A. LL.B (Hons.)

Helly Panchal joined AlphaLegist in June 2023 as an Associate, contributing to case-law research, legal drafting, client communication, and compliance support across the firm’s civil, corporate, and institutional practice areas. She completed her B.A. LL.B (Hons.) from GLS Law College, Ahmedabad, with distinction  achieving First Class with Distinction in her final semester. Her academic record also includes 88.6% in Class XII and 95% in Class X from Udgam School for Children, Ahmedabad, reflecting a consistent standard of academic seriousness that carries into her professional work.

At AlphaLegist, her role spans case-law research across civil, SARFAESI, consumer, and corporate matters; drafting of legal documents, petitions, affidavits, and compliance-related correspondence; and coordinating with clients to ensure they are kept informed and prepared at each stage of their matter. She brings the same standard of care to institutional documentation as she does to individual client briefs.

Her internship experience prior to joining the firm was varied and substantive. At CIIE.CO, the incubation and innovation centre at IIM Ahmedabad, she worked extensively on company law, banking law, and corporate transactions  researching legal cases and corporate statutes, drafting transaction documents, verifying CP and CS documents, and authoring articles on the end-to-end investment process.

This gave her a practical grounding in the legal side of early-stage and institutional corporate work that goes well beyond typical law school exposure. Before that, she worked under Adv. Jitendra Sharda, focusing on securities law and SEBI-related work, where she carried out case-law research and drafted appeals and replies to SEBI. She also trained under Adv. Aarushi Desai in family law and civil matters, developing both her understanding of those practice areas and her client-handling skills, and under Adv. Bhargav Hasurkar in civil and banking matters.

Beyond legal practice, Ms. Panchal has a meaningful record of public interest and NGO work. With Helping Hand International  an international NGO working towards the implementation of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals  she worked with the legal and management teams, hosted international webinars, drafted MOUs for government collaborations including with the Government of Sierra Leone, and was part of the effort to establish the NGO’s second headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. With U&I Trust, an NGO focused on education for underprivileged children, she began as a volunteer at one of their centres in Ahmedabad, was promoted to Centre Leader in recognition of her contributions, and subsequently managed two centres in the city. She is currently an active member of the Global Shapers Community, Ahmedabad  a World Economic Forum initiative  where she works on projects related to environmental issues and women’s health.

Her academic and research contributions are equally notable. She is a published author on Taxguru, writing on topics in Company Law and Securities Law. She has presented research papers at national and international conferences on environmental law, climate governance, and gender and sanitation issues  receiving the 2nd Best Paper Award at a national seminar in 2021 for her paper on feminine sanitation and hygiene. She also completed value-added courses in Climate Justice and Climate Law (SOAS London and NLU Delhi) and Environmental Governance (Vivekananda School of Law, Delhi), and participated in a national webinar on IP law in association with the Intellectual Property Appellate Board. She maintains a personal blog, The Eco Unlock, where she writes on environmental issues, climate change, and sustainability.
